PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Greetings, P.S. 346 Families:

Welcome to the new school year! My name is Jabari Edwards, and it is with great pride that I write this introductory message to you. I have been afforded the privilege of being appointed Principal at P.S. 346, the Abe Stark School. My career as an educator spans for over fourteen years. I have had the pleasure of servicing the Brownsville, Bedford Stuyvesant, and East New York communities during my tenure as a teacher and administrator. My most recent administrative experience was as the Assistant Principal of the Phillis Wheatley Elementary School. Over the years, I have met some outstanding students and families who understand the power of an excellent education; I hold this idea dear to my heart. It is at the core of everything I do and every decision I make.

Over the past few weeks, I have enjoyed visiting P.S. 346 and familiarizing myself with the Starrett City community. I immediately sensed the great pride and dignity members of the school community have in P.S. 346. My goals are simple, to work with the teachers and staff to continue the tradition of excellence and provide the best possible educational experience to the students of P.S 346.

In addition to strengthening instruction for our in-person and remote students this school year, one of my primary focus areas is to improve communication lines between parents and the school. I have collaborated with a company that has designed and released an app unique to our school. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Market. To coincide with our app, we have created an Instagram page to strengthen our social media presence and disseminate information. Weekly video chats are held with parents to gain insight into their needs, what the school is doing well, and what we need to improve.

The past several months have proven to be an unprecedented time for the entire public school system. However, our students and parents cannot afford for those they trust to waiver in our commitment to providing high-quality education. The world is rapidly changing; educators must buckle down, reaffirm, and find the resolve to march forward. We must find our collective strength; together, we will get through this pandemic.

In the words of Marian Wright Edelman, “education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it. “

Sincerely,
Jabari K. Edwards
Principal

Our Mission

OUR MISSION

Public School 346 is dedicated to the growth and development of independent learners. We aim to develop students who think critically, use technology and an inquiry-based approach to solve real-world problems.

Our mission is to empower students who will utilize their voices to affect change in their community and beyond. Our ultimate goal is to produce future leaders who are globally competitive and prepared to be change agents in any environment they enter.

 OUR VISION

Keeping in mind how the digital-divide has widened the opportunity gap during these unprecedented times, we aim to:

  • Provide differentiated academic and technological learning opportunities for students, teachers, and parents

  • Bolstering the technological prowess of our school community through an investment in cutting-edge technology designed to enhance the teaching and learning experience

  • Support our school community's social-emotional needs by implementing mindfulness activities, parent support workshops, and enrichment classes

  • Ensure we are continuously progress-monitoring all aspects of remote and blended learning platforms

INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS

By June 2022, 100% of teachers will engage in Progress Monitoring via Wit & Wisdom ELA Focus Question Tasks and Eureka Math Exit Tickets. These formative assessments will provide data for instructional decision-making: lesson planning, small group instruction, one-on-one support. This system conducted with fidelity will yield a 15% increase in achievement for all student groups.
